Sony has sold the dilemma with Multiplexes for Saawariya
Sony has reached an agreement to release its film ‘Saawariya’ at multiplexes for a lower revenue than it had sought earlier.
In a meeting that took place on Friday, 2 November between Sony Pictures India and the multiplexes, Sony agreed on the revenue sharing terms with multiplexes. However, Eros is yet to touch a common ground of revenue sharing with multiplexes for Om Shanti Om.
The terms that Sony and Multiplexes representatives have agreed upon for Bombay are 50:50, 40:60 and 30:70 for first, second and third week respectively.
In Delhi, the revenue share will be the same in the first week, but a little higher in the second and third, 45 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively. The share for the fourth week will be decided on the basis of the film’s box office performance.
Sony decided to deal with multiplex owners directly, while Eros has re-sold Om Shanti Om’s distribution rights to individual distributors in some territories, after it acquired the worldwide distribution rights from Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment.
