The nocturnal shades of Saawariya
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s fascination for colours is quite evident in the promos of his next film Saawariya .
The one-minute-thirty-second theatrical promo of ‘Saawariya’ has got a favorable response from the audience.
Even though the promos don’t clearly reveal the faces of the two newcomers – Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor – they are full of enchanting imagery typical of Bhansali’s style.
The predominant colours for Saawariya seem to be blue and green. And there is a strange nocturnal hue in the visuals.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali admits that major part of his movie has been shot in misty night light which was artificially created in studios. The film’s cinematographer further gave it a surreal touch after instructions from Bhansali.
Moreover, some of the visuals remind viewers of Raj Kapoor’s film ‘Awara’. For instance, one scene from ‘Saawariya’ shows two lovers embraced under an umbrella in rain while a huge billboard with letters RK shines in the background.
‘Saawariya’ will be marketed and distributed by Sony Pictures. The movie is set to release in November this year.
