Sanjay’s Saawariya look resembles Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
Sanjay Leela Bhansali may be extremely tight lipped about his upcoming Saawariya but we have found out that the look of the film is quite similar to his hit Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.
Says our source, “The movie has a fair mix of traditional and contemporary setting to it and resembles Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam a lot. You know the feel, texture and colour… its very Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”
Bhansali has been completely off the circuit and refuses to allow any media anywhere close to his Saawariya set. Although many would understand the need to stay away from the scribes but even individuals known to the director have been kept away from the film and its content. Only a lucky few have been able to get access to it. Saawariya is being backed by the US based Sony Pictures and marks the first lot of investment by the American film production house. But even amongst them, only a handful has got to see what the movie is all about says a source.
“Sanjay had made it very clear that he would not allow any kind of creative interference by the production house. Even now when the editing is taking place or as far as the rushes are concerned nobody has really seen more than a few minutes. It’s pretty much like on a need to know basis. But no one is arguing with him because the ones who have seen or heard whatever little Sanjay has allowed have been completely blown away. They say the two of them look brilliant and there is no doubt about the film being anything but huge!”
He adds that Bhansali is also reconsidering the idea of showing the film’s rushes as originally planned during the Chak De India! screening that hits cinema screens this Friday. “There were plans to put out the promos but now he isn’t very sure. They just might not reach the cinemas… there is a strong possibility of that!” he says.
Based on Dostoyevsky’s short story White Nights, Sanjay’s Saawariya, Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor play the two leads while Rani Mukherji and Salman Khan also have pivotal roles in the movie.
