Bhansali paid 7 crore for Saawariya

It’s not been very long since stories of out-of-work Bollywood filmmakers going bankrupt used to make news.

But things have changed drastically in the last five years. With both Indian and foreign investors wooing established directors to make films exclusively for them, the fees of a filmmakers have hit the roof.

Going by figures that rumour mills have generated of late, Sanjay Bhansali has reportedly been paid Rs 7 crore for Saawariya.

Reports say that Rakesh Mehra takes Rs 3 crore for a film as do Rajkumar Hirani, Namastey London maker Vipul Shah, and Kunal Kohli. Comedy expert Priyadarshan makes Rs 4 crore for a film

And as corporate deals become the order of the day, directors have never been at a better bargaining position than now.
